TOG

THURSDAY) This am was opening day in NY for togs and we ran an open boat. The fishing was a pick with nice quality fish coming up with short action along with some jumbo Sea Bass. The guys finished with 2 to 4 keepers a man, all fish were caught on green and asian crabs. We caught fish on bait rigs and jigs.

(friday) Today we ran another open boat Tog trip and the fishing was very tough for us. We tried several different areas and depths, it just did not matter for us. In certain areas the Sea Bass were so thick there was no way to even catch a Tog there. One spot had a few keeper Tog and shorts and were all caught on jigs, probably should’ve never left that slow death pick.

(SAT) We ran a split charter today and the fishing was much better today for us. I told the guys we are going to an area where we must sit and build up the life and that is excatly what we did. We picked and plucked away all day with a blast at the tide change. The jigs were doing better for most of the day to the South wind came up and had to go to the bait rigs. All of the fish were quality in the 3 to 6 lb class with some nice size Sea Bass too. The guys finished up with 20 ny keepers and at least another 12 nj keepers that were released.

We will be fishing in ny till nov 15th and will return to nj for opening day, our schedule is up on the open boat forum as well as our facebook page.

TOG & PORGYS

(SAT) This AM we had a charter for Rob and his friends for a day of Togging and the fishing was excellent. It took a few minutes to get them balled up under the boat but once they did it was non stop action to we left. I have no idea how many but it was fast fishing no time for counting when fish are chewing. We decided to try another area just to see if there was life but only picked away at a few keepers there. Everyone kept their one a man and it was C& R all day with some quality units coming up.

(sun) Today we had a charter for Pete and his friends for a day of Togging and porgys and once again the fishing was excellent. We started off on the Tog grounds and it took about ten minutesto get them going but once they started they did not stop until we pulled the hooks a few hours later. At times we had two to four on at at a time. Everyone kept their one and played C& R to we went to the porgy bottom. The first drop for porgys was not good a few small ones and some quality Sea Bass that were released, so we took a steam and found them. It was up and down porgy fishing as quick as you could pull them singles and doubles and the coolers filled up quickly.

We will be fishing this fri thru sun for tog& porgys still have room from NJ , also we will be going back to Brooklyn next monday for the NY Tog season and will return to NJ on Nov 15th for the Tog season. We still have some dates open for both locations. The tog schedule is up on our facebook page ladymcharters

GOOD FLUKING

SAT) Today we ran our open boat Fluke trip and the fishing was good from start to finish. We had non stop action all day with keepers and shorts coming over the rails. We even had a few fish on a time, it is nice to see the fish finally wake up in August. The boy’s finished with a 8 man limit plus a few Sea Bass. Eric had 6 keepers and Ned had 5 (orl) and everyone at least there limit.

SAILING FROM HIGHLANDS NJ

(sun) This AM we had another open boat Fluke trip and couldnt wait to get back out to the grounds where we caught them. In the AM we woke up to a nice stiff breeze and there was no way we were getting to that area with that wind. We decided for option B where we would be more protected. The first drift we saw a keeper or two plus some shorts. We stuck it out there for a while with just some more shorts and keeper, it was time now to look for some better fishing but actually got worse for us. Anyway some days that is the way the sinker bounces and tomorrow is another day.

open boat this fri & sat some spots remain

SEA BASS AND PORGYS

THURSDAY) Today we had a charter for Willy and his family for some bottom fishing. We started off on the porgy grounds with nice ones coming up and then the cow nose rays found us. It was a good fight for the kids to the hooks broke or straighten out. The rays finally moved on and the porgys started to chew again with several singles and doubles coming up for the next two hours. The charter wanted to try for some Sea Bass now, so we hit some local wrecks and had to fight through a lot of shorts to get our keepers but we did.

(FRI) This AM we had a charter for Eric and a few friends and they wanted to try for some Tog first. We had a few on the jigs but no great shakes, we did catch a few nice Sea bass there too. The Togging was slow for us so we tried a few drifts for some Fluke managed a bunch of shorts with a keeper. The guys finished off with some porgys and they were coming up at a fast pace with some real jumbos in the mix, we also saw several short Fluke come up on the clam there.

FLUKE

SAT) Today we ran an open boat Fluke trip and the AM was tough due to no drifting conditions, it was like being anchored so we power drifted which helped out a bit. We needed to find a drift, so we took a steam to another area and had good movement and starting to catch the Fluke. The keepers and shorts started to come up on every drift with Sea Bass as well. Danny and Billy both had four keepers each(orl) and Steve had his limit also. We have our Fluke dates posted in the open boat forum and our facebook page as well.

multi species trip

Today we had a charter for Jimmy and his friends for a day of bottom fishing and it was good fishing. We started off with the porgys and it was up and down fishing and in a little bit over an hour they had 120 keeper porgys only keeping 11 plus inches and that was enough for them. We now went for species number two, Sea Bass and got a quick limit and a bonus trigger. The charter now wanted to try for some Ling, so we went to the deep and had a nice pick of Ling and also had Flounder and a few nice Tog.

BOTTOM DWELLERS

SAT) Today we ran our marathon mudhole trip and the fishing was picky for us. We hit a lot of drops ranging from 100 to over 200 ft and it did not seem to make much of a difference. The guys did manage to pick and pluck away for a mixed bag of Ling and Sea Bass and a few 4 spots. By day’s end some guys had around 20 ling plus their limit of Sea Bass which is a joke.

(SUN) Today we had a charter for Jim and his buddies for a mudhole trip but told them yesterday was picky and asked them if they wanted to try a new game plan and they agreed. I decided we would start off on the porgy grounds and the fishing was very good up and down singles and doubles as quick as you can pull them. The boy’s in a little over a hour had plenty of nice size porgys up to 15 inches, so we switched gears to Sea Bass and got our quick limit with them with a bonus of eight triggers. We also had a Tog that was released and a keeper Weakfish too. The charter wanted to finish up with some Ling so we went to the deep and picked away at them and added another 40 to the cooler with some jumbo Bergalls, overall a good day with a nice mixed bag.

BIG SEA BASS AND LING

(SAT) Today we ran a charter for Larry and his friends for a day of Sea Bass and the fishing was very good. We decided to try another area since the local drops have had loads of shorts for us to fight through for the keepers. The first drop we saw a good blast of keepers coming over with a nice showing of big Ling too. The second drop is all we needed to get out 8 man limit, there were several real knot heads that came up.It is a shame that the season is over already and we will now be sailing mudhole trip for ling and other bottom dwellers as well as bucktailing Fluke.

SEA BASS & LING

(SUNDAY) Today we ran an open boat Sea Bass trip with our regulars and we went right back to where we finished up good the day before. As soon as the rigs hit the bottom fish were on them, only problem the shorts were fierce. We did mange to pluck keepers from it but too many shorts to stay there, so off we went to some deeper water and the fishing improved. The guys were picking away at nicer fish there with a nice amount of big Ling coming up. By day’s end the boys had a nice cooler of fish to go home with. We also saw some short Fluke and Tog both released.
